NEW STUDENTS
New students are invited to enroll in a 4-week trial period ($168) to decide whether their instrument and instructor are a good fit. After the trial period, you may decide whether or not you wish to continue.
ENROLLMENT
SOBO Music Academy operates year round for a total of 48 lessons each year. Students enrolled in 30-min lessons will be billed $168 on the first of each month, and each student is guaranteed 48 lessons per year. SOBO Music will work with each family to determine a day and time slot that can be consistently kept from week to week.
WITHDRAWAL POLICY*
Withdrawal Requests must be made by the 15th of your final desired month of lessons. Any withdrawal requests after this date will result in one additional month of tuition being billed. For instance, if you withdraw on April 10, your final lesson will be the last scheduled lesson of April; if you withdraw on April 17, your final lesson will be the last scheduled lesson of May. No prorated refunds are given for the remaining lessons of a withdrawal month.
ABSENCE AND MAKEUP POLICY
1-hour group makeup classes are offered on the first Saturday and Sunday of each month, and are grouped by age and skill level. A student may attend a group makeup class for each absence that occurs during the calendar year. Extra makeup classes are held in May and September to help accommodate anticipated and actual summer absences.

Parent Participation Policy
For children ages 8 and younger, we require that a parent/guardian accompany children to their weekly lesson for the first two years of instrument study. You should remain in the lesson, and quietly observe as your child's instructor works with them. After each lesson, your instructor will make sure you and your child understand the weekly assignment.
During the week between lessons, you will be tasked with helping your child practice. For little ones, we ask that parents carve out at least 4 practice sessions per week, about 10-15 minutes each session. The reason for this is multi-faceted. Your child is too young to self-direct their practice without assistance. Additionally, many parents report that their own understanding of music and their child's learning style deepens as they work together on their instrument and develop goal-setting skills. Your child will learn good practice habits and working together will show them that this is an important commitment that their parent is also invested in.
